A Midsummer Night’s Dream
By William Shakespeare
Summer’s here and that means festival season. What better destination for Shakespeare’s lovers. No repressed parents, no rules. Just tents, torrential rain and freedom to be themselves. For that, they need the help of the fairies who are always present just beyond our vision. They blow in and excite the mortals to live their lives more fully. They arrive singing, fighting and bursting with sexual frustration. No one can escape their power! Not even the crew of litter pickers. Not even the audience.
C Company will enchant The Bridewell Theatre with spellbinding harmony from acclaimed a capella composer Helen Chadwick fresh from her hit show (Dalston Songs) at the Royal Opera House. Together with RSC Movement Director Lucy Cullingford (A Tender Thing), the company will unleash a fairy world full of passion, joy and chaos.
C Company’s Meisner-trained performers give people extraordinary theatre in a lunch hour.
“We want our show to be as real as the thumping bass of a summer festival and as arresting as first love,” says director Aileen Gonsalves. “We will ALWAYS be alive and NEVER the same.”
‘Imaginative…Delightful…Utterly charming’ The Stage review of C Company’s current production of Cymbeline at the Bridewell.
Aileen Gonsalves directs her ninth Shakespeare for C Company. Together with eight company members she creates a magical 50 minutes of movement, singing, romance, comedy and accessible Shakespeare.
