C Company

“…something quite special. … What I got was the best version of Macbeth I have been lucky enough to see, even beating the Royal Shakespeare Company hands down.

But it was the urgency of the C Company show, tapping into the break-neck nature of the dialogue and throwing the audience from scene to scene, that was so engrossing.

Nick Danan as Macbeth was exceptional, backed by his Lady Aileen Gonsalves.

On three separate occasions the witches scared me senseless, surrounding us at the entrance, hanging from rocks and in the final scene.”

Aileen Gonsalves (Jane)

Aileen trained at The Central School of Speech and Drama. Theatre credits include Nora in A Dolls House (Young Vic), Mishti in Skeleton (Soho Theatre), Cordelia in King Lear (Orange Tree). TV and film includes: Doctors, Babyfather, Such a Long Journey, I Love my Mum and Forty Days of Mourning. She is co-founder of C Company and has directed many of their productions.

Susan Bracken (Lizzy Bennet)

Theatre credits include Mrs Cheveley in An Ideal Husband (The Bridewell Theatre), Liz in From Both Hips and Elaine in Last of the Red Hot Lovers (both Old Red Lion Theatre), Susie in One Night Stand (Hen & Chickens Theatre), Ellen in Informed Consent (Actors Centre) and Maria in Twelfth Night(Broadway Theatre). She is co-founder of C Company.

Zak Rowlands (Mr Bingley, Harris Bigg-Wither and Mr Collins)

Zak was born in North Wales. Since leaving Rose Bruford College, he has  appeared as Algernon in The Importance of Being Earnest (Bridewell Theatre) and Alan in One Night Stand (Hen & Chickens Theatre). While at Drama School he appeared in productions including Festen, Peribanez, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Caucasian Chalk Circle and The Cherry Orchard.

Alex Trippier (Mr Darcy and Tom Lefroy)

Alex received his MA in Advanced Theatre Practice (performance) from Central  School of Speech and Drama in 2005. Theatre includes Back at You (Lightwork Theatre, BAC) and Bill Sykes in Oliver (Jam Theatre). TV includes Hotel Babylon (BBC1) and Totally Frank (T4). Alex has written and directed four shorts An Exceptional Day, Sick, The Dose and The Bread Factory. He is currently writing a short film series for the web based company “Filmaka”.

Sheridan Brown (Mrs Austen and Alethea Bigg-Wither)

Theatre credits include Boo in Blue Window (Tristan Bates Theatre), Madame de Merteil in Dangerous Liaisons (Jermyn Street Theatre), Myra in The Devil’s Only Sleeping (Cockpit Theatre) to rave reviews, Emilia in Search for the Moor (Oval House) and Mrs Tilford in The Childrens Hour (Diorama). TV credits include The Bill (ITV) and Hollyoaks (Channel 4).

Jo Nuttall (Madame Lefroy, Lady Catherine de Bourgh and Cassandra Austen)

Jo trained at Manchester Met and graduated in 2001 when she headed down to London. Theatre credits include Brooke Daniels, Popcorn (Broadway), Bone Harvest (National Tour-Eastern Angles), Henna Night (Barons Court), The Censor (BAC). TV credits include Top Buzzer and AA-Outmaneuvered. She discovered Meisner at The Actors Centre and joined C Company Spring 2007. Jo also likes to sing!

C Company is following its hugely successful Wilde shows with three Shakespeare Plays at the Bridewell Theatre: As You Like It, The Merchant of Venice and Romeo and Juliet.  (The Tempest is being produced by Baseless Fabric, another company.)

Stratford Street – When Will Shakespeare comes back to earth to carry on where he left off he’s in for a shock – not only has the world changed but so has Will’s medium. For Will’s been reincarnated as a TV soap writer for long-running series Stratford Street – Will soon discovers that ‘team writing’ isn’t his forte and that it’s much harder for him to get his tried-and-tested ideas onto the small screen. Can the real William Shakespeare cut it in the modern world or will he have to be content with the memory of his first outing on earth?

Yiff! delves into the mysterious world of ‘furries’, people who roleplay as animals. Projected animations mixed with live action tell the story of Russ, whose childhood fixations seem to be crossing into distinctly adult territory, to the consternation of his religious mother. Some furries just like anthropomorphic cartoons or dressing up like tigers. Russ wants something a bit deeper and more adult: more sexy; more taboo; more… yiffy. Can he win acceptance and come of age, both online and in real life? Is a second life always a good thing? And how do you deal with the world’s wolves? All the intrinsic comedy of the furry experience meets some serious questions about sexuality in a decade of easy fantasy in excerpts from this perky and comic new musical that is unmistakably contemporary.

Zak Rowlands (Algernon)

Jestyn Phillips (Lane, Chasuble & Merriman)

Jestyn joined Joan Littlewood’s Theatre Workshop for the tour of Oh, What a Lovely War after leaving LAMDA. He has worked extensively in the theatre as well as in TV & film, with credits including: Morse, Poirot and Remains of the Day.

Royce Cronin (Jack)

Royce trained at the Oxford School of Drama. Theatre credits include: Kauschwitz in Imogen (Arcola Theatre), Romeo in Romeo and Juliet (BCCA with Seachange Theatre). TV includes: 24Seven, Family Affairs, Casualty, The Marchioness Disaster and D-Day. He is also a professional musician.

Penelope Horner (Lady Bracknell)

Theatre includes: Mrs Warren in Mrs Warren’s Profession, Philomena in Sins of the Mother, Mother in Eva Peron, Nancy in Steaming, Joanna in Present Laughter, Fay in Loot. Television credits include: Her Mother’s House, The Network, Father Brown, Hell’s Bells and Squat Betty. Film includes: Californian Cowboys, Dracula, The Man Who Had Power Over Women, Half a Sixpence and The Nun’s Story.

Sophie Rickman (Gwendolyn)
